Kitchen Tune-Up & Bath Tune-Up - Improving Form and Function
Kitchen Tune-Up & Bath Tune-Up - Improving Form and Function

Kitchens and bathrooms are vital parts of the home and remodeling them can completely transform a house, both in appearance and livability. These projects often involve reorganizing the space as well, making it especially important for homeowners to choose the right renovation company and team to meet their home's needs and their vision for the space.

Kitchen Tune-Up and Bath Tune-Up Main Line, PA, works to be that company for homeowners with a wide range of needs, from complete renovations to smaller, incremental upgrades. This allows customers to make updates that fit their home's individual needs without requiring a full-scale renovation.

"We help homeowners create kitchens and bathrooms that feel as good as they look. Because we offer so many levels of renovation, we can recommend the solution that fits the condition of the space, the way the family lives and the investment they are comfortable making. That flexibility allows us to improve what already works, change what does not and help each homeowner create a room that truly feels like home," says Jeff Toren, who owns the Main Line Kitchen and Bath Tune-Up franchise with his wife Penny.

For kitchens, the company offers one-day wood restoration services, cabinet painting, redooring and refacing, new countertops, storage accessories, custom cabinetry along with complete remodels. Services through Bath Tune-Up include updates for the bath and shower, tub to shower conversions and full-room remodels.

This range of services and flexibility in the scope of each project helps differentiate the company apart from its competitors, giving clients control over what they want done and the level of investment they're looking to commit to the project.

"We want to understand what frustrates the homeowner, what they love about the existing space, how their family uses the room and how they want it to feel when the project is complete. Our skilled designers know how to translate those conversations into practical design choices that improve both the beauty and function of the room. We are also different because we are not committed to selling one type of project. Our range of services gives us the freedom to recommend what is right for the homeowner instead of forcing every project into the same solution," says Toren.

Toren and the team of designers remain involved throughout the entire process, from the initial consultation to the finishing touches, keeping the homeowner abreast of each step along the way.

When it comes to the kitchen, often the heart of the home, there's a big difference between cabinet painting, redooring and/or refacing and a full remodel.

Painting keeps the existing cabinet boxes and doors, with the surfaces professionally prepared and painted a new color and finished for a refreshed look. Redooring replaces the doors and drawer fronts while keeping the existing cabinet boxes, and it can be paired with painting for a newly styled look. Refacing is the most involved of the three processes. It retains sound cabinet boxes while replacing the doors and drawer fronts and adding matching material to visible frames and sides, creating a cohesive look throughout the cabinetry.
All three processes differ from a full remodel in both scale and complexity.

"We also offer what we call Refacing Plus. This approach preserves the parts of the kitchen that are working while allowing us to make thoughtful changes to the layout. We may add an island, install a cabinet where more storage is needed, adjust a small section of the cabinetry or incorporate new organizational features. A full-kitchen remodel is the better choice when the layout, cabinetry or overall function needs to change significantly. That may involve removing the existing cabinets, redesigning the floor plan, improving traffic flow or creating entirely new storage," says Toren.

Some of the most substantial changes for appearance and functionality in the kitchen focus on storage, like deep drawers, pullouts, tray dividers, solutions for trash and recycling, cabinetry and pantry organization. In the bathroom, besides better storage, upgrades may include thoughtful shower design, better lighting, a properly sized vanity, easy care surfaces and accessibility features that may become necessary as folks age.

While these upgrades can make a significant difference in how a home looks and functions, some homeowners may put off important or even necessary projects because of concerns about cost and the routine disruptions that can come with renovations.

"Homeowners often postpone a project because there is so much to consider and they do not know what the renovation will require. During the early consultation, we can provide budgetary guidance for the different levels of service and explain what each option may accomplish. That expertise helps the homeowner compare realistic directions and narrow the project according to the priorities and budget that matter most," says Toren.

Whether it's a small update or a complete renovation, Kitchen Tune-Up and Bath Tune-Up Main Line, PA, gives homeowners the flexibility to create spaces that fit their needs, style and budget.
